This garden was conceived for a very difficult area at the front of a clients boathouse in Horning, Norfolk. A large square area of their front garden was prone to long term flooding in the Autumn & Winter months, and subsequent drying out to rock hard soil in the summer. Steel piles were constructed which then carried timber decked access paths throughout.
The planting we advised was to be of bog loving and other tough plants which could not only cope with the conditions but would thrive and give a long range of colour and interest throughout the year. The soil was prepared , with a heavy duty groundcover sheet topped with gravel after the planting was installed this made the area very low maintenance, and the gravel held onto moisture during the hotter summer months.
