Acanthus spinosus

known as the 'Bears breeches' this statuesque architectural plant has shiny sharp edged dark green leaves, forming large rosettes of sharply spined foliage. The stout impressive flower spikes of two toned white and purple are quite stunning and long lasting from May to August. grows in dappled shade to full sun in a moist but well drained soil.
