Grasses have become one of our most favourite plants at the nursery over the years, we certainly find using them in many clients schemes provide the long seasonal interest & ease of maintance that many request. So despite claims they are in or out of fashion, their tactile nature, harmonious associations with many hardy perennial plants, and being trouble free- easy to grow plants lend to them becoming rather addictive to many!

Known as the 'Giant hyssop' a great hardy perennial with fresh green aniseed scented foliage & masses of upright purple blue spikes of flowers from July until October. looks great mixed with low growing grasses & other cool coloured perennials in a border. must be grown in full sun in well drained soil and will increase slowly. Ht 70cm x Sp 40cm

This Melic grass has deciduous fresh green foliage which is topped with reddish flower panicles from early summer, provides a delicate, easy on the eye backdrop to ferns, thalictrum, digitalis etc in a woodland edge setting. The foliage then ripens to a wonderful ochre purple into the autumn months. Ht 90cm x Sp 50cm

Shrubs & climbing plants form the backbone of any garden, being woody plants which have several stems rising from ground level & being smaller than a tree, with their multitude of differing attributes, from structural frameworks using the Evergreen varieties, to focal points of the Deciduous varieties. Many carry brightly coloured & highly scented flowers which attract bees & other pollinators whilst providing habitat for birds.

Known as ' Pink Loosestrife' the Lythrums are another group of Native American wildflowers, suited well to the mixed or prairie style border, but also effective in a traditional cottage garden border. They grow well in sun to part shade in any reasonable soil, and particularly in boggy or wet soil, This particular variety has spikes of deep rose pink flowers from from June onwards.
