Cordyline australis

Known as the 'Torbay, or cabbage palm' this is one of the hardiest & easiest exotic effect plants to grow, its also very tolerant of wind and coastal salt reaching 5m in height in time, its often planted in pairs in containers flanking doorways etc. Having a single stout trunk initially, with broad strap like leaves. It forms sprays of very fragrant clear white flowers in masses in the late summer.

When grown in full sun to part shade and moist but well drained soil it will increase steadily forming a forked crown eventually..
