Giant bronze fennel is cultivated both as an ornamental plant and a culinary herb, it is highly valued for its dramatic, feathery bronze-purple foliage and distinct, sweet aniseed flavor. it looks great when mixed with other hardy perennials and adds a different texture amongst a grassy planting.


It produces flat topped umbels of yellow flowers in mid to late summer (July - August) which then produce lots of seed, so if you want to stop it spreading simply remover these before they start to set seed!.

Fennel prefers full sun to part shade in a moist but draining soil.
