Product Details

Miscanthus sinensis 'Lady in Red' is new to our range, and is an award winning stunning cultivar producing leaves that transition from fresh green with a red blush to deep, blood-red autumn foliage colours, topped with tawny white plumes of flowers on short stout stems.

Prefers full sun to partial shade in a moist but free draining soil in a border or container.

Ht 1.2 to 1.6m x Sp 80cm so a very short and stout form giving a great architectural form to any planting.

NB. This grass like all the Miscanthus types, should not be cut back in the Autumn as its foliage not only gives winter interest but also serves as protection against frost, simply remove old unsightly leaves & stems in the Spring end of February is best before the new fresh shoots appear.

Supplied in 9cm pots ready to plant out

The Miscanthus group of grasses should, in our opinion be known as the King of grasses. A very adaptable & diverse range of cultivars, all of which are reliable. Having a wide range of heights & structure plus finger like flower heads with a subtle range of colours which are produced very late in the autumn, and last well into the winter. They all require full sun in any soil and will grow in the same spot for many years quietly increasing from a central clump, but not running or becoming invasive. Suitable for mass plantings, use as a single specimen, or even in large containers
