Known as the Royal fern, a large and spectacular plant, forming distinct clumps of tall luxuriant, arching fronds of fresh green divided leaves, resembling ostrich plumes. New unfolding fronds tinted coppery-brown to purple, before green then developing tan - ochre shades into the Autumn.
This fern is perfect for a bog garden or pond edge, where it looks great with other foliage plants such as Hostas, ligularias & rodgersias, as it grows in full to part shade in a moist or even wet soil, with its crown above water & roots submerged
