Phormium. (New Zealand Flax)

Known as the New Zealand Flax, Phormiums are extremely architectural, tropical effect plants with lovely sword / strap like leaves, they must have full sun and a moist but well drained soil. Perfect in containers or in amongst a gravel planting, forming a great "statement" plant, keep them well watered during the summer months. These compact varieties have a semi arching habit with attractive, variegated foliage, and lovely tight clusters of red flowers on stems above the main group of leaves by late summer.
