The common polpody is an evergreen hardy fern that displays attractive ladder- like leaves forming spreading clumps. This fern thrives in both very dry and even damp soils making an attractive versitile groundcover foil for shady spots, sometimes also colonising old trees , mossy areas of old walls etc giving a very naturalistic feel.
