Thalictrum Delavayi is a marvellous plant rising up from mid border giving height but with an open feathery effect, suiting meadows, mixed borders & naturalistic plantings as well. known as 'Meadow rue' it prefers shade to dappled shade in a moist, humus rich but drained soil, making it a great companion to ferns & shade loving grasses but it will tolerate a sunnier spot if the soil never dries out.
We have it growing well in a raised bed at the nursery which gets early morning shade, then sun the rest of the day as its in a deep soil bed.
This stunning variety is known for its long stems carrying clusters of gorgeous, lilac-mauve nodding flowers with white & yellow stamens in the centre, forming cloud like sprays above delicate fern like foliage from July onwards into the Autumn.
