Verbena rigida
Verbena rigida, or the slender vervain is a low growing, compact form with an abundance of vivid purple flowers lasting from summer into the Autumn months. its low growing angular stems & habit make it ideal as an edging to borders, or planted in swathes in gravel or prairie borders.
for best results grow in a moist but well drained soil- (not waterlogged) in an open and sunny spot to ensure it comes through the winter unscathed.
the verbena's are the well respected group of delightful hardy perennials which are ideal for growing 'through" other plants, & mixed in for a naturalistic feel to a border. Looking great with all ornamental grasses & companion later season perennials , Stipa tenuisima grass in particular is a good partner for its frothy appearance & its great amongst all other mid to late season perennials. All Verbenas prefer full sun and a well drained soil, and dislike being waterlogged
The final size of this classic verbena is Ht 60cm x Sp 40cm. Supplied as young plants in 9cm pots ready to plant out.
