Baptisia australis 'Caspian Blue'
Known as the false indigo, or false Lupine, this useful plant has blue-green leaves resembling a bushy pea plant, from early summer its topped with impressive tall spires of large violet-blue pea flowers similar to those on traditional lupin plants. After these fade, producing large seed pods ripening to a charcoal grey providing interesting Autumn into Winter interest particularly when frosted.
A lovely addition to any garden & merges well into the naturalistic style of planting suiting a pairing with grasses & other prairie style perennials.
This deciduous plant prefers full sun or light shade in any soil as long as its not too alkaline, plus its considered to be animal resistant particularly to Deer.
