Physocarpus opulus 'Diablo'

Physocarpus opulus 'Diablo' is a classy deciduous shrub, also known as the nine bark. It has rich purple maple like leaves, above which pretty pink-flushed white flowers are formed on arching branches in early summer. These are followed by glossy red seed heads in the autumn. Mature plants have bark which peels away in layers giving another season of interest. Perfect for using its dark purple colour to break up the colours in a mixed border.

Best grown in sun or part shade in a moist but well drained soil. avoiding chalky soils.
